  • Prof. Avan sayer

    Principal investigator

    Avan Aihie Sayer is William Leech Professor of Geriatric Medicine at the Translational and Clinical Research Institute, Faculty of Medical Sciences, Newcastle University, Honorary Consultant Geriatrician at Newcastle Hospitals and an NIHR Senior Investigator. She is Director of the National Institute for Health Research Newcastle Biomedical Research Centre (https://www.newcastlebrc.nihr.ac.uk/) where the research vision is to transform lives through world-class research in ageing and multiple long-term conditions. She is internationally renowned in the field of Geriatric Medicine for her research on sarcopenia, frailty and multimorbidity.

  • PROF. SIAN ROBINSON

    Principal investigator

    Sian Robinson is Professor of Lifecourse & Lifestyle at the Translational and Clinical Research Institute, Newcastle University. She is a nutritional epidemiologist with principal research interests in life course influences of diet and lifestyle on health in later life, focusing particularly on inequalities in health in older age. She also has interests in nutrition policy and has had a range of external advisory roles. She is currently a member of the Scientific Advisory Committee on Nutrition that advises Public Health England and other government organisations.

  • MS LORELLE DISMORE

    PhD student

    Lorelle Dismore is a Chartered Health Psychologist. She has recently completed her PhD research examining the effects of pain catastrophizing on post-operative outcomes in forefoot surgical patients. She is interested in health promotion and research on strategies for preventing illness. Currently seconded on an honorary contract from Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, Lorelle has joined the AGE group to carry out qualitative research on lifestyle in later life in older people living with frailty and multiple long-term conditions and APPETITE.
