    Principal Investigator

Demographic change has resulted in a progressive aging of populations. One of the characteristics of aging is sarcopenia, which is an involuntary and physiological loss of muscle mass and function. It affects all older individuals, including healthy subjects, and is considered to be one of the major contributors to disability and morbidity in the elderly.

Sarcopenia is a physiological alteration whose causes are multifactorial: malnutrition / undernutrition, decreased physical activity, low-grade inflammation, oxidative stress, obesity but also changes in adaptive responses to the environment and recovery of the homeostasis following a life incident or a pathology.

Dominique’s research focus is to understand, slow down and limit this muscle loss during aging with the objective of developing adapted and optimized nutritional strategies to the ability of seniors' responses and complementary to the maintenance of physical activity and medication.
